Fisheries regions are public corporations established to develop fisheries within their respective areas. They promote collaboration among their members – owners of water areas and nationwide fishing organizations – to ensure the sustainable management of fish resources. 

There are 118 fisheries regions in Finland. The waters of Länsi Uudenmaan fisheries region include the sea areas, lakes, and rivers within the municipality of Hanko as well as Tenhola and Bromarv.
